Richard Mosse’s The Enclavedocuments rebel enclaves and sites of human rights violations in eastern Congo at a time of war. A war which is often tragically overlooked by the world and has resulted in 5.4 million deaths since 1998. Mosse captures these images using an extinct type of infrared film once used by the military to detect camouflaged areas by air, thus resulting in Technicolor. Recently, Mosse won the £30,000 Deutsche Börse Photography Prize for The Enclave.
The Impossible Image show an insight into the making of these images and the film that goes with it.

I know that I am a little late on this, but I was just made aware of the photographer Taryn Simon and her work. Since i’ve previously posted about James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 this post seems like a good follow-up.
Two years ago Taryn sat out to photograph every actress who appeared as a Bond girl starting with Ursula Andrews of Dr. No. In October 2013 her latest project “Birds of the West Indies” came together and was displayed at Carnegie Museum of art. It portrays a series of pictures of femme fatales, weapons and cars that have accessorized James Bond films for the past five decades. The NY times has a good slideshow of some of the pictures here for those who are interested.
The name of the project is taken from taxonomy of birds in the Caribbean written by James Bond, the name of the author which Ian Fleming appropriated for his stories.

This is where the unprecedented expedition took place for the Element Wolfeboro Authentech campaign. It is a trip Element team rider Karsten Kleppan will always remember – skateboarding in the midst of stunning scenery, facing freezing temperatures where polar bears wander and days never end.
