Walter Albini
absolutely cannot wait for this book:
“The imagination to power Walter Albini and his time” is not just a book about the life of Walter Albini, but a large “fresco” of a crucial moment in which Albini was a supporter and protagonist, that marks the passing of the atelier and the affirmation of a serial fashion and industrial production that can be reached by most. Born in Busto Arsizio in 1941, he completed his studies of art in Turin then moved to Paris, where he remained dazzled by Coco Chanel after meeting her.
Soon thereafter, he began working with Mariuccia Mandelli, and at Krizia he became familiar with the industrial techniques applied to knitwear and yarn. His big break came in 1972: Albini worked simultaneously for five independent Italian fashion companies. It becomes clear for him that he must abandon the idea of the atelier of the 50’s and envision a new way to design and produce. Albini created clothing and fabric, always striving for a unity of style. He never ceases to amaze, choosing in 1977 an exhibition of clothes on panels: twelve outfits belonging to friends, photographers, artists, whose personal care styling, once again becoming a vanguard of the times. He always chose unusual locations for his fashion shows: the Cafe Florian in Venice, the gardens in the south of Rome, a restaurant in the Brera neighborhood in Milan. A proponent of the total look, he himself put it into practice by drawing with parallel styles of fabrics, furniture, glass and objects. Many constants mark his style: from the beloved Gastby look, declined in both unisex and androgynous versions, to the shirt-jackets and bicolor shoes and early amphibians. He invented the perfection of style well in advance, leaving a timeless legacy.

high & tight.
Japanese Design Studio Nendo took a trip to the local barbershop and gave this simple chair a nice fade. Now only if you had a prisitne all white laboratory (pronounced la•bor•atory) like dwelling space. Simple idea, compelling effect.

Almost Perfect World

The perfect beauty tool for the almost perfect woman. I stumbled across this art entry from Argentina and thought Dan would get a kick out of it. This would look great laying on his desk next to his new super fly speakers! You can see the video aspect of the entry here. Almost Perfect World.

Eternal Life through MJ
(and I think that is a Boyonce Mona Lisa?)
I also saw that same day:
1. visable from your car while driving down La Cienaga, a display of 5th graders’ artwork “honoring Michael Jackson” for Black History month. (random tangent: I also heard on the radio yesterday that there were teachers somewhere potentially being fired for using images of Ru Paul and Dennis Rodman to teach black history month…)
2. Evidence that MJ was watching over me that day, this rainbow seen from the roof of the Burton store:

Blow me away
Hell yeah, finally some sexy and clean speakers. The white glazed cermaic speakers are not holding back on the sound quality, the totall avoidance of plastic in the system’s construction is leaving the speakers to its natural beauty and design. This might be my next purchase if i had $500 just laying around. If you’re ballin’ and want to pimp up your desk with some eco friendly and clean speakers you can check out the specs and purchase this baby here.

Nicolas & Christophe
Today ’s Balenciaga and Balmain show bring some much welcome fashion relief.
Balenciaga and Nicolas continue to experiment and push things forward with a Unique mix of industrial, scientific, computer-generated ideas that is very desperately needed in a blink fashion world dominated by styling, where everyone has forgotten what designing means and in place is using and abusing themed styled runway.
On the other Side the House of Balmain with Christophe Decarnin provided also a much needed “Fuck you All” to the absurd trend of Sober and Heritage. Someone had to kick this trend in the nuts and Christophe did, sending all this sober/Muted/Awful army of Chloe and Celine unsexy look to rest in burning Hell with their respectful horrendous women English designers that are trying to turn our beautiful girlfriends into military nuns. The Show was a gone Baroque ‘n’ roll somewhere between Prince’s Purple Rain pomp and Louis XIV at Versailles. Gold, brocade, frock coats, Louis-heeled ribbon-laced boots, sequin and lamé dresses galore: Decarnin went for it and flashed as much leg and bosom as possible. We all Approved. Beautiful and a great relief again form the boredom of everyone else.
Thank God for both of them from the bottom of our hearts at Mage Design!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!
