John Clang likes to explore the concept of movement in space and time. In his seemingly static series “Time”, he shows in a very creative way, how close we are to each other in the urban environment. We are all guests of the same room, just at different times. Longboard icon Kassia Meador floats serenely across the majestic waves in surfer and filmmaker Bruce Muller’s Echo. The visual meditation is the first of four shorts teasing the release this fall of Frequencies, an experimental documentary and visual essay by Muller shot at prime surfing destinations across Southern California.

Starring Meador and with an original score from Los Angeles-based psyche-pop trio E.S.P, Frequencies aims to explore how man can find synergy with nature’s cycles.

I remember some old baseball cards/playing cards with lenticular printing, but Randy Noborikawa takes this technique to the next level with his paintings. It is very similar to the illusion technique used by Mentalgassi in his “Fence Flip Graffiti”, but instead of just using one side of the artboard, he splits two paintings in half giving you two pieces of art for the price of one.

Warhol and Cars

American Icons is the first exhibition to examine Warhol’s enduring fascination with automotive vehicles as products of American consumer society. This exhibition features more than forty drawings, paintings, photographs, and related archival material spanning from 1946 to 1986 include the famous BMW M-1 racing car that was hand-painted by Warhol. Warhol and Cars: American Icons is on view at the Andy Warhol Museum on May 13, 2012.
